RC fire bar design

• In addition to the steel and log design, reinforced concrete reinforcement can now be designed for a fire at FEM-Design 20. Masonry wall designs provide internal style through lines and use, with the detailed finish available through the walls.

Composite column design

• In FEM-Design 20, composite columns can be verified according to the Eurocode called the “simplified method” of Eurocode 4 (EN 1994-1-1 6.7.3), in which the cross-sections and reinforcement are designed on the basis of the theoretical interaction of surfaces. To make a composite design, the column must be modeled with one of the cross-sections on the Composite tab.

Parametric model

• The Parametric Modeling Tool has been enhanced in FEM-Design 20 and can now be used to construct skeletal systems, frames, or complex parametric structures. Quickly enter and modify typical structures with parametric models. Streamline your projects and workflows with the latest version of parametric models.

Time history analysis

• You now have 3 different methods to perform what is called Linear Time History Analysis (LTHA) in FEM-Design 20. A whole new type of analysis has been developed and you can calculate the dynamic load and the response of forced vibrations or ground acceleration. You can set the ground time acceleration function in horizontal and vertical directions with the Ground acceleration command in the Load tab.
• You can perform a level spectrum analysis by considering any equipment on a stage and calculating the average acceleration vector rate per level. You can define a specific time force multiplier function, using the Excitation Force command on the Load tab and specifying the excitation force diagram.

IFC

• Model swapping has never been easier with the latest update to IFC Imports. Use your 3D geometric representation defined by architectural and structural modelers as input for analysis in FEM-Design.
• FEM-Design can read IFC models and create original and editable FEM-Design analytical model elements from the following types of structural building elements: IfcColumn, IfcBeam, IfcSlab, and IfcWall. Other IFC types of IFC building elements (for example, IfcStair, IfcFooting, IfcCurtainWall, IfcPile) or IFC Distribution Elements (MEP equipment), or IFC Furniture Elements can be displayed as reference elements in model space only.

Customize the analytical mode

• Save time by adjusting your analytical model for correct calculations. Use the new tools to connect structural elements to each other or to the grid. The customization function is available in the Structure tab under the Customize analytical model command.
• For each personalization operation, we must select two groups of elements: the reference object, called “master object”, for which we want to adjust the analytical member, and the analytical member to adjust (called “object to personalize” or the target object) The reference object can be floors, axes or analytical members.
